Gift of Clean Water
1% of all sales across Sunnies Inc. goes directly to projects and organizations that actively contribute to the planet - one of which is Waves for Water's community development programs and disaster responses.
So far, Sunnies have supported the provision of water filters to over 3500 households in communities across 12 provinces the Philippines.
Implementation Locations:
1) La Union (October 2021)
#MaringPH is the 12th tropical cyclone to enter the Philippines in 2021. Heavy rains and strong winds have caused severe flooding and damage in Northern Luzon, affecting over 6,000 families. With water supply impacted, access to clean water becomes an immediate need.
2) Tawi-Tawi (October 2021)
Clean water systems were deployed to our couriers on the ground in Tawi-Tawi. They were able to implement these to the 20 households or 100 people by teaching how to use, clean and properly maintain the systems.
3) Taytay, Palawan (December 2021)
In the municipality of Taytay, locals practice compressor diving — touted as the world's most dangerous fishing method. The lack of access to many basic needs such as food, clean water, and stable jobs result in the pursuit of risky livelihoods.
For this fishing village, families also had to rely on untreated sources of water due to high transport costs of potable water from mainland.
4) San Clemente, Tarlac (March 2021)
Sunnies employees and founders joined us in Tarlac to provide clean water access for the resettlement community, Sitio Dueg. All 190-households primarily rely on a nearby spring, a water source that is highly susceptible to contamination from surrounding land uses. Rainwater catchment tanks were also installed to increase freshwater storage capacity.
5) Odette Response (December 2021 - onwards)
On December 16th 2021 Typhoon Odette (Rai) struck landfall in the Philippines, Odette was a powerful and catastrophic tropical category 5 cyclone with gusts reaching 240km/h and maximum sustained winds of 195km/h. Waves for Water couriers implemented 280 water filters (donated by Sunnies) in Bohol, Cebu, Dinagat Islands, Negros Occidental, Palawan, Negros Oriental, and Southern Leyte.
